Little Miracles

Natural · Home-based childcare

A different kind of childhood.

We care for children from newborn to eleven in their own home, in Chester and Stoke-on-Trent, with particular attention to the early years. The day is unhurried and without screens. There is mud, real food, and one nanny who comes to know the household.

Behind that nanny is the rest of the work: a plan written with you, an introductory day before anything begins, and a review every month. The care is in your home. The arrangement is looked after with us.

Tall trees in a sunlit woodland with grassy ground

The day goes outside. The rest of it happens at home.

What we believe

A prepared home

Montessori materials, reimagined for your own rooms. Everything within a child's reach, and nothing done in a hurry.

Outdoors, every day

Forest school in your garden and the woods nearby. Wellies are standard, and the weather is simply part of the day.

Food that is cooked

Organic meals prepared in your kitchen, from weaning to the family table, Ayurvedic and Mediterranean, suited to the child.

What we offer

  • Early years, from birth to five

Montessori at home and a daily forest-school session, for one family at a time.

  • Wraparound and holidays, up to eleven

The same approach, fitted around school days and stretched across the holidays.

  • Meals in your kitchen

Organic cooking from first tastes onwards, planned around each child, including constitution and diet.

  • Home-education support

Support for parents who teach at home. You keep the legal responsibility for your child's education. We help alongside you.

  • A regular place, or a single day

A placement that grows with the family, or one-off cover when you need it. A single day begins with a short care sheet, not the full plan.

The plan

Every regular arrangement begins as a document, written after we have sat in your home, and approved by you before care starts.

Your nanny works from the same copy. When the week changes, the plan changes, and you both see the new one. Small things can be amended at once. Larger ones are talked through with you first.

Written for one family

The children

Who they are, what they love, how they learn, and anything we must know: allergies, medicines, and who to call.

The week

Out after breakfast. Lunch cooked here. Rest. A slower afternoon. You come home to a note.

The work of the day

Montessori at the child's height. Time outside, in the weather you actually have. Meals for this child. The household help we agreed. Behaviour, in the words you already use.

The first month

Two or three aims, looked at together when the month is done.

How it begins

Everything starts at your kitchen table, and nothing is decided without you.

  1. 1

    We come to your home

An hour or more, with you and, ideally, the children. We listen to how the days actually run, and to the person you hope will be here.

  2. 2

    We write the plan

A timetable and a nanny matched to the children and to the household.

  3. 3

    You approve it

You read it and change what you like. Then an introductory day, with you there, before regular care begins.

  4. 4

    We drop in

Short visits, arranged with you, weekly through the first month and then as you wish.

  5. 5

    We review together

Once a month, with you and your nanny, at home or by video. The next plan is with you within a week.

How it is held

Families and nannies each have their own way in. Both are looking at the same arrangement. We see it too.

Families

Your household

The plan you approved, each version of it. A note at the end of the day, written like a letter. The date of the next review. Nothing here belongs to another family.

Nannies

The family you are with

The same plan. A place to leave the day before you go. A way to reach us the same day, if something needs us. You are introduced only after we know you, and the family has met you.

From the family record · Tuesday

We walked to the woods after breakfast and spent a long while on the stream bank. Rain came in at eleven, so we went home and made a mud kitchen of the back step.

Lentil soup at twelve, eaten slowly and with a great deal of talk about worms. A long sleep, then the wooden blocks until you were home.

With you, and with us.

Before a nanny is introduced, we have taken up references and confirmed an enhanced DBS and paediatric first aid. You spend an introductory day together, with you present. In the first weeks we come by. After that, the monthly review keeps the plan honest.

Where we work

Every family is one-to-one, in their own home. We have no premises, and we think that is the point.

For nannies

If you love being outdoors in all weathers, and you believe childhood should not be hurried, we would like to hear from you. Send your CV with a short note on outdoor care, and on why this approach fits you.
